So, I had the fortunate experience of getting to visit with nearly every cousin I have on both sides of my parents families this weekend. It was my grandmother's 21st birthday on Saturday, so I loaded up the kids (sans Suzanne, she was ill), and headed down the road 6.5 hours to Lafayette, La. We had a good time drinking 10oz beers (some preferred 1/2 gallon jugs of wine, but that person will remain anonymous), sharing lies, and remembering the good old times. Meme made an incredible shrimp stew and fried shrimp. Saturday was a recovery day for the first 1/2 of the day, and then we had po' boys for lunch.

Saturday evening was my aunt's 21st birthday party in Abbeville, La (it's as big as it sounds). There were tons of relatives there too. We had a great time and she was completely surprised. The party was at the American Legion in Abbeville. The American Legion has these boxes on the walls, and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what they were. There was one up in the front, and one in the back. Here's two shots, do you know what these are for? I'll let people guess and I'll tell you in a day or two. Send a comment with your guess. Get it right, win a prize. Josh - No guessing for you.

All this fun family activity got me thinking of what my top 10 favorite things about visiting Louisiana. They are:
10 - Drive across town in under 15 minutes
9 - Watch people get mad who have do drive an entire 15 minutes to get across town
8 - Drink beer out of 10 oz cans, but pay the 12 oz price for them
7 - Peruse old photo albums that show my underwear hanging out of my shorts
6 - Make a "pallate" for the kids
5 - Park in the front yard
4 - Go barefoot and no one cares
3 - Go ahead, have a dirty white t-shirt
2 - Louisiana cooking
1 - Catching up with family / friends
I've got some movies and other reports from the weekend coming up. It was a really fun time.
In other awesome news, my IT guy has had my laptop for a couple of days. I'm going get it in about an hour, but what's awesome is that it will NOT have Vista on it, it's going to have XP. I'm completly pumped. Vista has a couple of cool utilities on it that I'd like to use, but with Vista continually crashing on me, I rarely have access to those cool utilities anyway.
